MARMED was invited to be presented as a best practice during the 5th WestMED Stakeholder Conference, held in Tunis on 28 November 2025.
The project was showcased within the panel “Strengthening Blue Skills and Ocean Literacy for a Resilient Western Mediterranean”, dedicated to initiatives supporting skills development, training and ocean literacy across the maritime and blue economy sectors.
During the session, ForMare – Polo Nazionale per lo Shipping, coordinator of MARMED, presented the project’s main results and its contribution to capacity building in the Mediterranean blue economy.
The presentation focused in particular on the development of the MARMED e-learning platform, the implementation of pilot training activities and the preparation of recommendations addressed to maritime cluster managers. These results were presented as practical and transferable tools that can support maritime clusters in strengthening their role, improving cooperation among blue economy stakeholders and responding more effectively to emerging skills needs.
Particular attention was also given to the potential transferability of the MARMED approach to Southern Mediterranean countries, where maritime clusters can play an important role in supporting local blue economy ecosystems, promoting knowledge exchange and encouraging the development of new skills and professional capacities.
The participation in the WestMED Stakeholder Conference represented an important opportunity to share the experience gained through MARMED and to position the project within the broader regional dialogue on blue skills, ocean literacy and sustainable economic development.
The recognition of MARMED as a relevant best practice confirms the value of the work carried out by the project consortium and the potential of its results to support capacity building and cooperation across the Mediterranean.
